Man Arrested For Outrage Of Modesty

The Police have arrested a 41-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty.

On 25 August 2022 at about 5.25pm, the Police were alerted to a case where a woman was purportedly molested by a man while crossing the road along North Bridge Road.

The woman managed to take a photo of the man, which was useful information that she provided to the Police when she reported the incident. Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within one hour from the report. Investigations are ongoing.

The offence of outrage of modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code 1871, carries an imprisonment term of up to two years, a fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
