Man To Be Charged For Criminal Trespass

The Police will be charging a 26-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of criminal trespass.

On 14 February 2024 at about 1.42am, the Police received a report of a man trespassing into a hostel along Jalan Besar.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from CCTVs, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within sixteen hours of the report. Further investigations revealed that the man had entered the hostel with an intent to use the hostel’s facilities without paying. The man also allegedly went into one of the rooms in the hostel, which was then occupied by two women who were sleeping. The man fled after one of the women woke up and discovered him in the room.  

The man will be charged in court on 16 February 2024 with one count of criminal trespassunder Section 447 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to three months, or fine of up to $1,500, or both. 

The Police have zero tolerance towards offenders who threaten the safety of the community, and offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
