Singapore Police Force Signs New Memorandum Of Understanding With Hong Kong Police Force To Combat Cross-Jurisdictional Crime And Develop Police Cooperation On 14 July 2015

The Singapore Police Force's Commissioner of Police Hoong Wee Teck has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Hong Kong Police Force’s Police Commissioner Stephen LO Wai-chung to strengthen law enforcement cooperation between the two forces in combating cross-jurisdictional crime and developing police cooperation.    The signing event was held on 14 July 2015 at the Police Headquarters in Hong Kong.

The new MOU replaced the existing one that was signed in 2012. The signing of the MOU was a strong testimony of the close relationship between the Singapore Police Force and the Hong Kong Police Force. Cooperation between both forces is expected to be further enhanced in the areas of information sharing, capacity building, professional development and training with this MOU.

Highlighting the importance of international cooperation in the fight against crime, Commissioner Hoong said: “The Singapore Police Force will continue to work with our strategic partners, both home and abroad, to keep criminals at bay, and to strive towards a safer Singapore. The MOU with the Hong Kong Police Force will enable both police forces to learn and tap on each other’s capabilities, so as to strengthen our fight against cross-jurisdictional criminals and syndicates.”

Commissioner LO said: “This memorandum that we are signing today will continue to strengthen our relationship, particularly in the fields of fighting international crime and terrorism and also in capacity building.”
