The Singapore Police Force (SPF) organised a ground breaking ceremony for the new Woodlands Division Headquarters (DHQ) on Sunday, 22 November 2015.

Mdm Halimah Yacob, Speaker of Parliament, Member of Parliament for Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC (Marsiling) and Adviser to Marsiling GROs, graced the event as the Guest-of-Honour.

The new Woodlands DHQ, to be located at the junction of Woodlands Ave 3 and Woodlands St 12, will be the 7th division headquarters. It will augment frontline policing capabilities and services in the northern part of Singapore. The Woodlands West Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC) will be co-located at the same site. The new DHQ, expected to be operational by end 2018, will feature a self-service lobby, as well as an enhanced public reception area, amongst other facilities, to serve the needs of the community.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held together with a Community, Safety & Security event co-organised by Woodlands West NPC and grassroots leaders where Mdm Halimah launched the Vehicles On Watch (VOW) project, an initiative that leverages on in-vehicle cameras to detect and deter vehicle-related crimes. The launch aims to encourage and involve residents who have installed in-vehicle CCTV cameras to play a role in keeping the neighbourhood safe.
