The Police have arrested a 58-year-old man for his suspected involvement in two separate cases of mischief by fire.

On 16 November 2020 at about 10.30pm, the Police received a report of a fire at Blk 51 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 18 November 2020. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to have set fire to a rubbish bag at the rubbish collection centre, and to be involved in another case of mischief by fire along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 reported on 15 September 2020.

The man will be charged in court on 20 November 2020 with mischief by fire under Section 435 of the Penal Code. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years, and a fine.
