Police Advisory On “Senior Advantage” Website Offering Fake Membership

The Police would like to alert the public to a scam involving “Senior Advantage” website, where fake memberships targeting senior citizens are offered.

Victims would come across online advertisements or emails advertising “Senior Advantage” membership. By clicking on the URL link embedded in the fake advertisements or emails, the victims would be directed to a fake website. These websites would deceive the senior citizens into signing up for a membership that offer special discounts for senior citizens at supermarkets, restaurants and other retail stores. However, these websites are not affiliated to the supermarkets, restaurants and retail stores. Victims only realised that the membership is a scam when they did not receive any email notification after successfully making payments for the membership fees. In some cases, victims realised that they were scammed after searching for the company’s information online.

Members of the public are advised to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Be wary of URL links provided in unsolicited advertisements, especially those related to deals that seem too good to be true;

  2. Always verify the authenticity of the information with the official website or sources;

  3. Report any fraudulent transaction to the payment service provider immediately.

If you have information related to such crimes or if you are in doubt, please call the Police hotline at 1800-255-0000, or submit it online at www.police.gov.sg/iwitness. Please dial ‘999’ if you require urgent Police assistance.
