Man Arrested For Attempted Snatch Theft

The Police have arrested a 48-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of attempted snatch theft.

On 12 August 2020 at about 4.00pm, the Police received a report that an unknown man had allegedly attempted to snatch a female victim’s gold chain along Sengkang East Way. The man fled after the victim shouted for help.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 15 August 2021.

The man will be charged in court on 17 August 2021 with snatch theft, Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term of not less than one year and not more than seven years, and caning.
