Man Arrested For Snatch Theft Within Eleven Hours

The Police have arrested a 57-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of snatch theft.

On 27 November 2025 at about 1.19am, the Police were alerted to a case of snatch theft along Bedok North Street 2, where an unknown man had purportedly snatched a sling bag from a female victim. The man subsequently ran away and the victim sustained minor injuries.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division and Police Operations Command Centre established the identity of the man and arrested him within eleven hours of the report. The sling bag and cash amounting to S$137 were recovered. 

The man will be charged in court on 28 November 2025 with the offence of snatch theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than one year and not more than seven years, and shall be also liable to caning.

The Police will not tolerate such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law. Members of the public who encounter such cases are advised to remain calm, take note of the physical appearance and distinctive features of the perpetrator, and call for the Police as soon as possible.
