Woman Arrested For Loanshark Harassment

The Police have arrested a 36-year-old woman for her suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.  

On 6 February 2026 at about 5.41pm, the Police were alerted to a case of loanshark harassment at a residential unit along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4, where the main gate of the unit was splashed with red paint. 

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the woman and arrested her on 13 February 2026. Preliminary investigations revealed that she was allegedly involved in other similar cases of loanshark harassment islandwide. 

The woman will be charged in court on 14 February 2026 under the Moneylenders Act 2008. For first time offenders, the offence of loanshark harassment carries a fine of between $5,000 and $50,000, with imprisonment of up to five years and caning of up to six strokes.  

The Police have zero tolerance for loanshark harassment activities. Those who deliberately vandalise properties, cause annoyance or disrupt public safety, peace and security, will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law.

Members of the public are advised to stay away from loansharks and not work with or assist them in any way. The public can call the Police hotline at 1800-255-0000, or submit information online at www.police.gov.sg/i-witness if they suspect or know of anyone who could be involved in loansharking activities.
