The Police will be charging a 40-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of rash act which endangered the safety of persons below 14 years of age.
On 20 October 2025, the Police received a report that two children were seen sitting on the boot of a moving car. Preliminary investigations revealed that on 20 October 2025 at about 10.40am, the man allegedly drove a car with his two children seated on the boot of the vehicle along Dairy Farm Lane, while the act was being filmed.
Through follow-up investigations, officers from the Traffic Police (TP) established the identity of the driver and subsequently arrested him.
The 40-year-old man will be charged in court on 26 March 2026 with committing a rash act which endangers the safety of persons below 14 years of age under Section 336(a) read with Section 74B(2) of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to six months, a fine up to $2500, or both.
TP will not hesitate to take firm action against acts that endanger the lives or safety of others. Children must be properly secured in appropriate child restraints or car seats when travelling in vehicles, and must not be placed in dangerous positions such as on car boots. Such reckless behaviour not only violates traffic laws but puts vulnerable young lives at serious risk of injury or death. Parents and caregivers are reminded of their responsibility to ensure children's safety on the roads at all times.
