The Police have arrested six male teenagers, aged between 13 and 16, for their suspected involvement in two cases of theft of motorcycle.
Between 12 and 13 April 2026, the Police were alerted to two cases of theft of motorcycle at the vicinity of Punggol Drive and Punggol Central.
Through follow-up investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identities of the six male teenagers and arrested them on 14 April 2026. Preliminary investigations revealed that the teenagers were able to steal both motorcycles as the transponders had been left inside the motorcycles’ storage compartments. Both motorcycles have since been recovered. Investigations also revealed that none of the teenagers possessed a valid driving or riding licence.
The six teenagers will be charged in youth court on 15 April 2026 for the offence of theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment of up to seven years and shall also be liable to fine.
The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
- Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
- Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;
- Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard;
- Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended; and
- Do not leave spare keys or transponders inside any storage compartments of the motorcycle.
