Two Male Teenagers Arrested For Theft Of Motorcycle

The Police have arrested two male teenagers, aged 16 and 17, for their suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle.

On 15 April 2026 at about 7.30am, the Police received a report that a motorcycle parked at the vicinity of McNair Road was purportedly stolen.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV and Police cameras, officers from Central Police Division established the identities of the two male teenagers and arrested them on 16 April 2026. Preliminary investigations revealed that they were able to start the parked motorcycle as the transponder had been left inside a storage compartment of the motorcycle. The stolen motorcycle has been recovered.

The two teenagers will be charged in court on 18 April 2026 with the offence of theft of motor vehicle with common intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years, and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;

  2. Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;

  3. Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;

  4. Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard;

  5. Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended; and

  6. Do not leave spare keys or transponders inside any storage compartments of the motorcycle.
