Man Arrested For Mischief By Fire Within Two Hours

The Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for his suspected involvement in three cases of mischief by fire.

On 21 April 2026 at about 3.55pm, the Police were alerted to a fire at a residential block along Yung Kuang Road. The fire has resulted in property damages, including burnt walls and two burnt bicycles. No injuries were reported.

With the aid of images from Police and CCTV cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within two hours of the report. Preliminary investigations revealed that he is believed to be involved in two other similar cases of mischief by fire at Yung Loh Road.

The man will be charged in court on 23 April 2026 with the offence of mischief by fire under Section 435 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and shall also be liable to fine.

The Police take a serious view of such reckless acts and have zero tolerance against offences that endanger the lives or safety of others. We will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
