The Police will be charging a 50-year-old Chinese Singaporean man in court on 28 April 2026 for posting content on his WhatsApp account that promoted enmity between racial groups in Singapore.
The Police received a report on 10 September 2025 relating to three offensive images targeted at the Jewish community, which were posted on WhatsApp with a 24-hour status. The WhatsApp profile of the account also contained a description with antisemitic messaging.
Through investigations, the Police established the identity of the man as the owner of the WhatsApp account and arrested him on 13 September 2025.
The man will be charged in court with two counts of attempting to promote enmity between different racial groups under Section 298A(a) of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, a fine, or both.
The Police take a serious view of acts which have the potential to harm racial and religious harmony in Singapore. We will deal firmly with offenders.
