The Police have arrested a 56-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of mischief and theft cases involving several cars.
On 3 May 2026, the Police received several reports of side windows of cars being shattered in the vicinity of Tengah and Bukit Batok. Items including cash amounting to about $100 and paper receipts were also stolen from one of the cars.
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within 13 hours of the first report.
The man will be charged in court on 5 May 2026 with the offence of theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, a fine, or both. Police investigations for the offence of mischief are ongoing.
The Police take a firm stance against offenders who commit such acts of mischief and theft, and offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law. The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Park your motor vehicle in well-lit areas;
- Install an anti-theft alarm for your motor vehicle; and
- Install a dash camera with 24-hour recording.
