The Police will be charging a 30-year-old man in court on 4 June 2026 for voluntarily causing hurt against a 55-year-old man.
On 27 October 2025 at about 10.40pm, the Police received a call for assistance regarding a case of assault along Rivervale Drive. Preliminary investigations revealed that the 30-year-old man had allegedly snatched a cap bearing the Israeli emblem which the 55-year-old man was wearing, and assaulted him. Both parties were not known to each other. The 55-year-old man sustained injuries and sought medical attention.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, the Police established the identity of the 30-year-old man.
The 30-year-old man will be charged in court on 4 June 2026 with the offence of voluntarily causing hurt under Section 323 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence of voluntarily causing hurt carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, a fine of up to $5,000, or both.
The 55-year-old man was administered a stern warning in lieu of prosecution for the offence under Section 8(1) of the Foreign National Emblems (Control of Display) Act 1949.
The Police take a serious view of any act of violence. Members of the public are advised against the public display and wearing of articles associated with foreign conflicts. They are also reminded not to import overseas conflicts into Singapore, and to express their views in a lawful and responsible manner. The Police will deal with offenders sternly in accordance with the law.
