Cocaine Found On Foreign-Registered Commercial Vessel

On 21 August 2026, officers from the Police Coast Guard (PCG) were alerted to a case involving suspicious packages found on board a foreign-registered commercial vessel.

Acting on information received, PCG officers boarded the vessel and conducted a systematic search, during which they uncovered two packages believed to contain controlled drugs concealed in the sea chests strainers. CNB was alerted to the detection and took over the case. It was later established that the two packages, which were seized, contained more than 28kg of cocaine. CNB’s preliminary investigations revealed that the vessel was transiting through Singapore and that the drugs were not meant for the local market.

Under Section 7 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, those who import into or export from Singapore more than 30g of cocaine, he or she may face the mandatory death penalty.

CNB’s investigations into the case are ongoing.
