On 27 February 2026, the National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) celebrated its annual SPF-NPCC Badge Presentation Ceremony. Held at the Harmony Hall, Home Team Academy, the NPCC recognised the most accomplished cadets who were selected through a rigorous evaluation process.
As I stepped into Harmony Hall, I saw rows of smartly attired cadets sitting in anticipation. Laughter and excited chatter filled the room as recipients exchanged smiles and encouragement before the ceremony began.
First introduced in 1997, the SPF-NPCC Badge Presentation Ceremony is held annually to recognise outstanding cadets. This year, 224 cadets received the badge after being nominated by their respective units for demonstrating exemplary leadership and character.
Seated in the stands behind the cadets were their family members, teachers and representatives of their schools. Soon, the chatter in the hall died down and everybody’s gaze turned to the entrance. A round of applause erupted as the Guest of Honour, Commissioner of Police (CP) How Kwang Hwee, entered, together with key NPCC partners.
In his opening address, CP How commended the cadets and reaffirmed the NPCC’s mission. “All our award recipients are testament to the mission of NPCC. NPCC aims to develop its members to be active citizens and community leaders.” he said. “As proud holders of the SPF-NPCC badge, I encourage you to continue serving the community and playing your part in building a Safer Singapore, Together.”
Among the key NPCC programmes noted were the Community Safety and Security Programme and the Police Youth Ambassador, which empower NPCC cadets to take ownership of safety and security issues within their school environment and the wider community.
The highlight of the evening was the award presentation, with NPCC cadets going up on stage to receive their badges. Their faces lit up as they stood in line eagerly to receive the award from CP How.
After all the cadets had received their badges, this year’s NPCC valedictorian, Staff Sergeant (SSgt) (NPCC) Irven Khoo Yi Kai, took to the stage, with his cohort welcoming him with cheers and applause. He reflected on the lessons learnt throughout his NPCC journey.
“Balancing our responsibilities with academic commitments taught us that effective leadership extends far beyond the parade square,” said SSgt (NPCC) Khoo. “It’s found in the preparation, planning and the unseen efforts behind the scenes that ensure success… In embracing these challenges, we grew not only as cadets but as individuals ready to lead with conviction and purpose.”
The SPF-NPCC Badge Presentation Ceremony stands as a testament to the enduring partnership between the SPF and NPCC, with both striving to nurture a new generation of community leaders committed to safeguarding Singapore. Our heartiest congratulations to this year’s badge recipients!
