The Singapore Police Force (SPF) introduced two enhanced tactical vehicles developed in collaboration with the Home Team Science and Technology Agency: the enhanced Tactical Strike Vehicle (TSV) with a Riot Control System (RCS) and the Next-Generation Water Cannon Vehicle.
These tactical vehicles enhance public order and public security operations while strengthening the response capabilities of the Special Operations Command (SOC) for major incidents.
Enhanced TSV with RCS
First unveiled at the SPF Workplan Seminar in 2023, the TSV is designed to augment the SOC’s tactical capabilities by breaching the centre of public order and public security incidents to protect life and property swiftly.
The enhanced TSV with RCS was operationalised on 23 March 2026 and features a remotely operated weapon suite equipped with a range of less-lethal options. These include the Long-Range Acoustic Device and a pair of grenade launchers that fire non-lethal munitions.
These capabilities provide deterrence while allowing Police Tactical Unit officers to engage subjects from an effective safe distance, reducing injury risks to unruly perpetrators; officers; and members of the public within the vicinity.
The TSV also incorporates a front-mounted barricade remover that clears obstacles that creates a safe and swift passage for emergency service responders during incidents.
Next-Generation Water Cannon Vehicle
Besides the new TSV, the SPF commissioned the Next-Generation Water Cannon Vehicle on 29 December 2025, replacing the previous model that had been in service for 20 years.
Each water monitor is equipped with zoom-enabled cameras, making it easier to spot and track persons-of-interests. The water monitors also have a longer range, enabling officers to operate from greater distances.
The vehicle features a 360-degree crowd-repelling system that enhances operational effectiveness by dispersing rioters and mitigating fire threats.
To enhance driver safety, the vehicle features Advanced Driver Assistance Systems that include blind-spot detection, collision warnings, lane-departure alerts and an anti-fatigue monitor. These features help reduce accident risks and ensure road safety.
The interior of the vehicle has also been ergonomically redesigned to optimise officers’ safety, efficiency and comfort during prolonged operations.
Future-Ready Policing
“These assets underscore the SPF’s commitment to continually improving our operational capabilities as one formation to prevent, deter, and detect crime.” Said Superintendent of Police (Supt) Mohamed Adnan Mohamed Akbar.
With the newly deployed TSV and the Next-Generation Water Cannon Vehicle, our officers are better prepared to manage public order and public security incidents. These new platforms highlight the SPF’s commitment to using advanced technologies to keep Singapore safe and secure for all.
