From 13 to 16 October 2024, the Police Coast Guard (PCG) hosted the inaugural port visit by the Indonesia Coast Guard’s (Bakamla RI) vessel, KN Pulau Dana. The port visit saw the arrival of more than 60 Bakamla RI officers including their leadership delegation led by Chief of Bakamla RI, Vice Admiral (VAdm) Dr Irvansyah. The 80-meter long vessel was berthed at PCG’s headquarters for the visit.
The Ambassador of the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore, His Excellency Suryopratomo was also present to receive the vessel together with Commander PCG, Senior Assistant Commissioner (SAC) Cheang Keng Keong.
A bilateral meeting was held with the Bakamla RI leadership delegation upon arrival of KN Pulau Dana. Both PCG and Bakamla RI discussed on some of the upcoming collaborations in 2025 which included a Training Sail to Indonesia by a PCG vessel, organising maritime training exchanges and establishing a joint patrol Standard Operating Procedure with PCG in ensuring safety and security at the common maritime border between both countries.
PCG also hosted a welcome dinner reception for the Bakamla RI leadership delegation and boat crew. Key officers from the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) also attended the dinner as PCG works closely with RSN in guarding Singapore’s maritime borders. The RSN delegation was led by Commander Maritime Security Command, Colonel Ng Xun Xi. Adding to the lively atmosphere was PCG’s very own PCG Band, performing on stage for the dinner reception.
During the duration of the port visit, there were sports exchanges, a ship visit and cocktail reception onboard the KN Pulau Dana, and a presentation and tour of PCG training facilities. The activities and exchanges greatly strengthened the understanding, partnership and friendship between the agencies.
On departure day, PCG officers led by Deputy Commander PCG, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Daniel Seah, sent off KN Pulau Dana as the vessel made their way back to Indonesia.
PCG will continue strengthening its collaborations with key foreign maritime agencies to keep the territorial waters of Singapore safe and secure.
