On 26 May 2025, Guest-of-Honour, Mr Goh Pei Ming, Minister of State (MOS), Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Social and Family Development, graced the launch of the Safe Clubbing Campaign (SCC) 2025 at HaveFun LiveShow, Bugis+.
Through successful partnerships between the Police, National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) and industry stakeholders, crime rates at nightspots have shown a notable decline. MOS Goh shared that in the first quarter of 2025, outrage of modesty (OM) cases decreased by over 34% compared to the same period in 2024, while cases of rioting, affray, disorderly behaviour and serious hurt fell by approximately 14%.
Despite these encouraging reductions, such cases remain a concern. In particular, OM offences in and around public entertainment (PE) outlets accounted for 7% of all OM cases island-wide in 2024. This underscores why safeguarding the nightlife scene continues to be a top priority.
Aligning with the campaign tagline “Celebrate Right, Enjoy Responsibly”, SCC 2025 aims to bring about continuous collaboration with industry partners to promote a safe environment for both patrons and staff of PE outlets.
Promoting a Responsible Drinking Culture
The Singapore Nightlife Business Association (SNBA), Singapore River One (SRO), Singapore Alliance for Responsible Drinking (SARD) and NCPC collaborated with the Police to produce a set of vibrant Safe Clubbing Coasters, which aims to instil responsible and moderate drinking habits while enjoying a night out.
The coasters feature safety reminders and QR codes linking to the Safe Clubbing Challenge Mobile Game launched in 2024.
Advisory videos starring local media personalities are also shown at PE outlets and will be shared on respective social media platforms of the Police, NCPC, SNBA, SRO and SARD.
These videos help amplify key safety messages such as respecting boundaries and keeping calm to de-escalate potentially tense situations.
Ensuring a Safe Clubbing Experience Together
The Police will continue to conduct regular checks on PE outlets and take strict enforcement actions against offenders to keep the PE landscape safe.
Commanding Officer of Marina Bay Neighbourhood Police Centre, Superintendent of Police Randy Chua emphasised that safe clubbing is a shared responsibility of both PE outlets and patrons. “We urge everyone to stay safe, drink responsibly, and look out for one another.”
