President of Singapore confers the Distinguished Service Order on Inspector-General of Police of the Royal Malaysia Police for strengthening bilateral ties.

On 11 June 2025, Tan Sri Razarudin Bin Husain, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), was conferred the Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang (Distinguished Service Order) by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the Istana.

Instituted in 1968, the Order may be awarded in special circumstances, to any person who has performed outside Singapore any acts constituting distinguished conduct.

IGP Tan Sri Razarudin was appointed IGP of RMP on 23 June 2023. Under his leadership, the bilateral relationship between the RMP and the Singapore Police Force (SPF) was strengthened, underpinned by close cooperation in the areas of investigation, intelligence exchanges as well as capability building and training. IGP Tan Sri Razarudin emphasised the importance of close operational coordination between the two Police forces which helped combat transnational crime, drug trafficking and terrorism.

This close cooperation underscores his commitment in building bilateral ties between both nations, enhancing their safety and security.

Acting Commissioner of Police (CP) Lian Ghim Hua highlighted the unwavering partnership, “The SPF deeply values our longstanding and steadfast partnership with the RMP. This close cooperation has strengthened our response to evolving cross-border challenges. We will continue to work closely with the RMP to combat transnational crime as well as enhance joint operational effectiveness.”

While in Singapore, IGP Tan Sri Razarudin also made courtesy calls on Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Acting CP Lian.
