Having served in the Singapore Police Force (SPF) for 31 years since 1994, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SAC) David Scott Arul, currently Commander of Training Command (TRACOM), will hand over leadership to his successor this July upon his retirement.

Throughout his time in SPF, he served in various units such as Tanglin Police Division, the Manpower Department, Operations and was the Commander of the Special Operations Command (SOC) during pivotal moments like the 2018 Trump-Kim Summit. Presently, he is focused on developing the next generation of regular Police officers and Police National Servicemen in his current and final capacity as Commander TRACOM.

“Policing is about managing human interactions,” SAC Scott reflects, sharing how policing has evolved with technological advancements, yet at its core, remains about human connections. Under his leadership at TRACOM, he has adapted training methods to meet challenges such as improved operational readiness.

When asked about his favourite posting in SPF, SAC Scott highlighted that being Commander SOC was an opportunity he jumped at. He also shared how contributing to frontline policing and operational roles provided purposeful and valuable takeaways in his career.

“You enjoy the job because you make it enjoyable,” he candidly shares, crediting his fulfilling career in SPF to supportive colleagues, his ability to find meaning in every role and an understanding family, which he endearingly labels his “rock that he can always fall back on”.
