The Singapore Police Force (SPF) hosted the Annual Police Dinner on 21 August 2025 at the Resorts World Sentosa Convention Centre. The event was graced by Mr K Shanmugam, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs, as the Guest-of-Honour.

This year’s Dinner commemorated not just the enduring bonds between the SPF and its community partners, but also two major milestones – the 50th anniversary of Police National Service (PNS) and the SPF Band’s 100th anniversary.

Honouring 50 Years of PNS
Since the inception of full-time PNS in 1975, our PNS officers have been integral in safeguarding Singapore, with generations of PNS officers contributing to keeping Singapore safe.

To mark this milestone, Minister Shanmugam and Commissioner of Police (CP) Hoong Wee Teck, together with Director of PNS Department (PNSD), Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police K Puvenesveran, and representatives of the PNS community, sealed a commemorative time capsule – symbolising five decades of PNS commitment and the evolving roles of PNS officers within the Force.

The time capsule contained an SPF200 Medallion marking 200 years of policing in Singapore; a Swagger Stick symbolising pride and discipline; a Letter to the Future with the PNS Booklet and PNSD crest; an Assistant Superintendent of Police peak cap representing leadership and service; and an SPF jockey cap signifying vigilance and dedication to national security.

“Look at our PNS officers – they stand shoulder to shoulder with our regular Police officers. They patrol the streets, fight crime and perform many other works that our regular officers do,” said Minister Shanmugam, thanking generations of PNS officers for their service and contributions. “And if you look at Singapore today, it is one of the cities with the lowest crime rates in the world.”

Celebrating 100 Years of the SPF Band
Established in 1925, the SPF Band has been a proud symbol of unity and excellence, inspiring generations through music, strengthening bonds with the community and representing the SPF at home and on the international stage. One recent highlight was their stirring performance at this year’s National Day Parade.
