On 26 January 2015, based on information received, officers from Police Coast Guard (PCG) arrested twelve foreign men, aged between 19 to 62, for their suspected involvement in a case of Criminal Breach of Trust by Servant over the illicit sales of 6 metric tonnes of marine gas oil (MGO), valued at about S$4,000.
2. Preliminary investigations revealed that the seven crew, from foreign registered tugboat, “Tenaga Maju”, had sold 6 metric tonnes of MGO to the five crew of foreign registered tugboat, “TB Nerine”. The offence is believed to have taken place on 23 January 2015 at the sea off Pandan River. The tugboat, “TB Nerine” and cash amounting to S$2760 were seized for investigations.
3. All twelve men will be charged in Court on 29 January 2015 for the offence of Abetment to commit Criminal Breach of Trust by Servant, under Section 408 read with 109 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they may be punished with an imprisonment term which may extend to 15 years, and shall be liable to fine.
