Police have arrested two male subjects, aged 18 and 19, for their suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery which took place along Upper Jurong Road on 16 January 2015.
2 On 16 January 2015 at about 12.25 am, a 29-year-old man was robbed of his mobile phones along Upper Jurong Rd by suspects wielding a knife. Upon receiving the report, officers from Jurong Police Division conducted extensive follow up investigations and managed to establish the identities of the two suspects. The two suspects were arrested along Tah Ching Rd on 28 January 2015 at about 4.40 pm.
3 Both suspects will be charged in Court on 30 January 2015 for the offence of Armed Robbery under Section 392 read with 397 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and up to 12 strokes of cane.
4 Police would to remind members of public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
Refrain from carrying excessive cash or jewellery with them, especially when they are alone and/or in secluded areas. They should also refrain from wearing or exposing their jewelleries or monies in public that could potentially make them easy targets for crime.
They should always be wary of their surroundings, especially of suspicious persons who could be following them.
When confronted, they should remain calm. They should not put up a struggle especially if the culprit is armed with sharp objects like a knife or pen knife. They should try to take note as much details of the culprit as they possibly can, such as his appearance, clothing, height and other physical description. They should also take note of the culprit’s direction and mode of escape.
Call the Police immediately at ‘999’ as soon as it is safe to do so.
