Joint Crime Prevention Outreach Efforts By The Singapore Police Force And The Royal Malaysia Police

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) conducted crime prevention outreach efforts to travellers from both sides of the causeway on Sunday, 16th April 2017. This joint effort by the SPF and the RMP serves to educate travellers from both countries on the latest crimes of concern and the preventive measures to take.

At the Woodlands Checkpoint, officers from the Jurong Police Division set up crime prevention booths and gave out crime prevention advisories to travellers from Malaysia, as well as Singaporeans travelling to and back from Malaysia. The advisories contain crime prevention measures for safeguarding themselves against common crimes such as online scams which they may encounter in Singapore, as well as raising awareness on the prohibited items which are not allowed into Singapore.

At the same time, officers from the RMP held a crime prevention event under the “High Profile Policing Programme” across the causeway at Johor Bahru Sentral. This programme aims to allow officers from the RMP to engage the local community as well as travellers from Singapore, providing them with the latest crime prevention advisories.

Commander of Jurong Police Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Koh Wei Keong, was present at the event at Johor Bahru Sentral, where Chief of Police, Johor, Dato Sri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Bin Mohd was the event's Guest-of-Honour.

AC Koh Wei Keong said, "This joint crime prevention effort demonstrates the close working relationship between the Singapore Police Force and the Royal Malaysia Police, and the shared commitment towards educating the public on safeguarding themselves from being victims of crime. Both Police Forces will continue to work closely together to keep both countries safe and secure."
