Man Arrested For Public Nuisance After Leaving Luggage Bag Unattended Near Mrt Station

The Police have arrested a 34-year-old man for an offence of Public Nuisance after he had left a luggage bag unattended at Admiralty MRT Station.

On 7 June 2017 at 8.45 am, the Police were alerted to a case of an unattended bag at the bicycle bay beside Admiralty MRT Station. Officers from Jurong Police Division and the Public Transport Security Command, with the assistance of SMRT staff, quickly traced the owner of the luggage bag and arrested him at Admiralty MRT station. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had left his luggage bag at the bicycle bay unattended while he went to make a purchase at a convenience store. The luggage bag was later established to contain personal effects such as clothing, toiletries and medication. Police investigations are still ongoing.

The Police treat all security threats seriously and will not hesitate to take action against anyone who intentionally causes public alarm.

The Police would also like to remind the public not to leave personal belongings unattended and to report any suspicious items or behaviour to the MRT staff or the Police immediately.
