On 15 July 2022, the Police informed business operators and property owners of public entertainment (PE) outlets in Orchard Towers that the Police will not grant new PE licences, nor renew PE licences for existing PE outlets beyond 31 May 2023.
Since then, PE operators at Orchard Towers and the Singapore Nightlife Business Association have appealed to extend their PE licences.
The Government has considered the appeal. We will not be changing our policy direction, but the Police have agreed to extend the deadline for nightlife outlets to cease public entertainment operations at Orchard Towers by two months, to facilitate their transition to alternative arrangements.
PE outlets will be able to renew their PE licences until July 2023 if the requirements for renewal are met. There will be no further renewal of PE licences thereafter.
