The Police have arrested a 22-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voyeurism.
On 17 May 2023, at about 6.20pm, the Police were alerted a man allegedly taking an upskirt video of a female victim on the escalator at City Hall MRT station.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV cameras, officers from Public Transport Security Command and Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is purportedly involved in other similar cases of voyeurism. Police investigations are ongoing.
The offence of voyeurism under Section 377BB(5)(a) punishable under Section 377BB(7) of the Penal Code 1871 carries an imprisonment term which may extend to two years, a fine, caning, or any combinations of such punishments.
