The Police have arrested a 37-year-old man on 27 October 2025 for allegedly using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty and unauthorised possession of a karambit.
On 27 October 2025 at about 2.30am, officers from Bedok Police Division were patrolling in the vicinity of Block 12 Bedok South Avenue 2 when they spotted a car parked at the passenger drop-off point of the block. When officer made a check on the male car driver, he became hostile and aggressive. He allegedly swung a karambit at one of them and then held it against his own neck. Despite repeated warnings to drop the weapon, the man refused to comply. In order to de-escalate and contain the situation, the officers deployed a Taser to stop the man, who was then placed under arrest.
The man will be charged in court on 28 October 2025 for the following offences:
- Using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty under Section 353 of the Penal Code 1871 punishable with an imprisonment for a term which may extend to 4 years, or a fine, or with both;
