Teenager Arrested For Theft Of Motorcycle Within Six Hours

The Police have arrested an 18-year-old teenager for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle.

On 2 January 2026 at about 9.45am, the Police received a report from a victim that his motorcycle parked at a carpark in the vicinity of Hougang Street 92 was purportedly stolen.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV and Police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the teenager and arrested him within six hours of the report. Preliminary investigations revealed that the teenager allegedly did not possess a valid riding licence.

The teenager will be charged in court on 3 January 2026 with the offence of theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment of up to seven years, and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
  2. Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
  3. Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;
  4. Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard;
  5. Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left
    unattended; and
  6. Do not leave spare keys inside the motorcycle storage box.
