Man Arrested For Voluntarily Causing Grievous Hurt

The Police have arrested a 61-year-old man on 18 January 2026 for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt. 

On 18 January 2026 at about 4.20pm, the Police were alerted to a case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt along Geylang Road. The victim sustained severe head injuries after allegedly being punched by the man during a physical altercation. 

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Bedok Police Division and the Criminal Investigation Department established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day. 

The man will be charged in court on 20 January 2026 with the offence of voluntarily causing grievous hurt under Section 325 of the Penal Code 1871.  The offence of voluntarily causing grievous hurt carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and a fine or caning. 

The Police have zero tolerance towards such acts of violence and will take firm action towards those who blatantly disregard the law.
