On 9 February 2026 at 4.27pm, the Police were alerted to an incident where a man had allegedly molested and harassed a female cabin crew member whilst on board an aircraft.
Preliminary investigations revealed that during the flight, when the female cabin crew member was serving the man near his seat when he allegedly touched her inappropriately. The female cabin crew member immediately warned the man to stop touching her and proceeded to the galley to prepare for landing. The man then followed her to the galley, where he allegedly continued harassing her by moving closer to her and cornering her in the confined space. The female cabin crew member shouted at him and left the galley, but the man continued following her into the aisle and only returned to his seat after she reported the matter to her supervisor.
Upon arrival at Changi Airport, officers from the Airport Police Division conducted follow-up investigations and arrested the man.
The man will be charged in court on 17 March 2026 for the following offences:
Using criminal force to a person with intent to outrage modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code 1871 read with Section 3 of Tokyo Convention Act 1971. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to three years, a fine, caning, or any combination of such punishments.
Intentionally causing harassment under Section 3(2) of the Protection from Harassment Act 2014 read with Section 3(1) of Tokyo Convention Act 1971. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to six months’ imprisonment, a fine of up to $5,000, or both.
The Police take a firm stance against sexual offenders who commit indecent acts that cause alarm, distress and harassment to others, whether on aircraft or in public. Such offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
