Teenager Arrested For Theft Of Motorcycle

The Police have arrested an 18-year-old male teenager for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle.

On 2 April 2026 at 2.30pm, the Police received a report that a motorcycle parked at a carpark in the vicinity of Block 101A Bidadari Park Drive, had been stolen.

Through follow-up investigations, and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the teenager and arrested him on 7 April 2026. Preliminary investigations revealed that the 18-year-old teenager was able to start the parked motorcycle as the transponder had been left inside a storage compartment of the motorcycle.  The stolen motorcycle has been recovered.

He will be charged in court on 9 April 2026 with the offence of theft of a motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code 1871. This offence carries an imprisonment of up to seven years, and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
  2. Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
  3. Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;
  4. Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard;
  5. Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended; and
  6. Do not leave spare keys or transponders inside any storage compartments of the motorcycle.
