Two Men Arrested For Housebreaking

The Police have arrested two men, aged 29 and 37, for their suspected involvement in two separate cases of housebreaking.

First Case

On 8 August 2026 at about 2.50am, the Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking along Tuas Crescent. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTVs, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the 29-year-old man and arrested him on 17 August 2026. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be linked to other cases of housebreaking. The man will be charged in court on 19 August 2026 with the offence of housebreaking under Section 448 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to three years and a fine.

Second Case

On 13 August 2026 at 7.10am, the Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking at a private residential estate along Jalan Salang. Cash amounting to $170 was purportedly stolen. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTVs, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the 37-year-old man and arrested him on 17 August 2026. The man will be charged in court on 19 August 2026 with the offence of housebreaking and theft under Section 451 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.

The Police would like to advise members of the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Secure all doors, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks before leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;
  • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in any premises; and
  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition.
