Operational excellence and unwavering commitment were the hallmarks of Exercise Scorpius II, with more than 160 Police National Service (PNS) and Full-time PNS (PNSF) officers from the Protective Security Command (ProCom) successfully completing the three-day exercise.
Running from 30 January to 1 February 2026, the exercise saw personnel being activated through recall procedures and deployed to strategic locations, to test and validate their operational readiness and crisis response capabilities.
A Comprehensive Test
Exercise Scorpius II brought together both PNS and PNSF officers in a rigorous three-day assessment. The exercise covered multiple National Emergency scenarios, challenging their officers’ adaptability, coordination, reporting procedures and logistics planning.
When the mobilisation call came at 5pm on 30 January, officers demonstrated their responsiveness by reporting back to ProCom base. After registering their attendance, the officers collected their equipment and drew their firearms.
At the drill shed, briefings from officers-in-charge set the stage for the challenges ahead. The officers’ high morale and operational readiness reflected the vigour of their training that reinforced the focus on mission success, as more than 160 personnel prepared for three days of intensive assessments.
From Fortress Major to Scorpius II
Exercise Scorpius II built upon the foundation laid by Exercise Fortress Major in 2024, but represented a step forward in both scale and ambition. More than doubling participation from 80 to over 160 personnel, this year’s exercise enabled testing across multiple simultaneous scenarios.
The inclusion of both PNS and PNSF officers marked an evolution from the previous PNS-only focus. Integrating PNS and regular forces validated ProCom’s ability to operate as a unified force in an increasingly complex security landscape.
Realistic Multi-threat Scenarios
The real test came as officers underwent various scenarios designed to mirror potential operational challenges. From suspicious vehicle sightings to tasks involving Improvised Explosive Devices, each inject pushed officers to demonstrate tactical thinking. Chemical agent attacks and sophisticated diversionary tactics further tested the officers’ ability under pressure. After each scenario, evaluators conducted debriefings.
Protect and Prevail
As the final scenario concluded after three intensive days, After-Action Reviews captured the wealth of insights gained. Exercise Scorpius II’s success reflected not only the frontline officers’ dedication but also the work of personnel behind the scenes, from planners to logistics coordinators.
Such exercises ensure that operational and support plans remain robust whilst developing officer competencies. Exercise Scorpius II has once again demonstrated that ProCom stands ready to Protect and Prevail, with both PNS and regular forces prepared to safeguard Singapore’s critical assets whenever duty calls.
