Change Of Command At Tanglin Police Division And Airport Police Division

There will be a change of command in both Tanglin Police Division and Airport Police Division on 1 November 2019 and 4 November 2019 respectively.

 

CHANGE OF COMMAND AT TANGLIN POLICE DIVISION

 

Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Cheong Chee Ming (张志明) will 1 November 2019. He will take over from on the command of Tanglin Police Division assume AC Chong Zunjie (张尊介) who will the appointment of Cluster Director for Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA) Office in the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) on the same day. assume

AC Cheong, 50, who is currently the Commander of Airport Police Division, joined the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 1994. He has served 25 years with the SPF, and has held several key appointments, including Head Operations and Training of Jurong Police Division, Deputy Commandant of the School of Criminal Investigation, Assistant Director of the Investigation Services and Support Division of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Deputy Director (Special Projects) of Manpower Department, Deputy Commander of Tanglin Police Division and Director of International Cooperation Department. He was also the Deputy Director for Contingency and Scenario Planning of the Operations Readiness Control Division during his secondment with Ministry of Health (MOH).

AC Chong, 37, was appointed Commander of Tanglin Police Division on 13 August 2018. He has served 18 years with the SPF, and has held several key appointments, including Head Operations and Training of Clementi Police Division, Assistant Director of the Intelligence Doctrine and Development Division at Police Intelligence Department, and Deputy Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division.

During AC Chong’s tenure as Commander of Tanglin Police Division, he oversaw security operations and deployments, including the ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting, 33rd ASEAN Summit and Shangri-La Dialogue 2019. AC Chong also fostered a robust training culture in the division through major numerous training exercises in public areas to ensure the division’s readiness for routine, major event security and contingency operations. Beyond enhancing the division’s policing capabilities, AC Chong also fostered a strong division culture that is built on the values of teamwork, positivity. , and openness

Reflecting on his tenure as Commander of Tanglin Police Division, AC Chong said, “It has been a great honour and privilege to have been able to serve alongside all Tanglin Police Division officers, including Volunteer Special Constabulary officers and Police National Servicemen. I am extremely grateful for their unwavering commitment and dedication to duty in our fight against crime. I would also like to thank our community partners and stakeholders for their strong support and for working hand in hand with the Police to keep our neighbourhoods and precincts safe and secure. I wish officers in Tanglin Police Division all the best, and I am confident that the division will continue to do well under the new leadership of AC Cheong Chee Ming.”

 

CHANGE OF COMMAND AT AIRPORT POLICE DIVISION

 

AC Evon Ng Ee Fong (吴銥宸)the command of Airport Police Division  on 4 November 2019. She will take over from AC Cheong Chee Ming ( will assume张志明) who will take over the command of Tanglin Police Division on 1 November 2019.

AC Ng, 47, who is currently the Deputy Commander of Public Transport Security Command, joined the SPF in 1994. She has served 25 years with the SPF, and has held several key appointments, including Head Operations of CID, Head Investigation of Central Police Division, Assistant Director for the Licensing Division and also the Community Involvement Division of Operations Department and Deputy Director (Resource Management) of Planning and Organisation Department. She was also the Director of   Strategic Resource Management and Director of Licensing during her secondment to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Casino Regulatory Authority respectively.

During AC Cheong’s tenure as Commander of Airport Police Division, overall crime in Changi Airport deceased by 8.8% in 2018, compared with 2017. This achievement was against the backdrop of an increase in passenger movements of 65.63 million in 2018, from 62.22 million in 2017. Under AC Cheong’s command, Airport Police Division had worked closely with Changi Airport Group to put in place a robust aviation security regime for Changi Airport Terminal 4 and Seletar Airport Passenger Terminal Building. AC Cheong led his officers in participating in major security exercises in the aviation domain, namely Exercise Northstar and Exercise Heartbeat, as well as in airport security operations during the 32nd and 33rd ASEAN Summits and the Trump-Kim Summit. AC Cheong also oversaw the organisation of the inaugural ASEAN Counter-Terrorism Conference on Aviation Security with INTERPOL, and in partnership with MHA, Ministry of Transport and Immigration & Checkpoints Authority

Looking back on his tenure, AC Cheong said, “I am honoured to be given an opportunity to lead the Airport Police Division and to serve alongside my fellow officers, including our Volunteer Special Constabulary officers and Police National Servicemen. The officers’ dedication to duty and the unwavering support from their families have allowed us to achieve our mission of protecting Singapore’s civil aviation against crime. On behalf of the Airport Police Division, I would like to thank our airport stakeholders for working closely with us to ensure a safe and secure passage for all passengers.”
