The Police have arrested a 43-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of car rental scam.

Between 24 December 2019 and 11 February 2020, the Police received three reports from victims who were purportedly cheated by an online seller who advertised cars for rental at discounted rates. The man went uncontactable after the payments were made by the victims.

Through investigations, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him on 12 February 2020.

The man will be charged in court on 14 February 2020 with cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence carried an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.
