Commemorated annually on 3 June since 1971, Police Day celebrates the achievements of the Singapore Police Force (SPF); recognises the contributions of past and present officers; and brings officers together to renew our pledge to serve Singapore and to carry out our duties with Courage, Loyalty, Integrity and Fairness.

This year, 650 participants took part in the Police Day Parade, with DAC Tan Yi Chun as the Parade Commander.

As always, the highlight of Police Day was the Police Day Parade, held on 3 June at the Home Team Academy. 2023 marks the second year that the SPF had held a physical parade since COVID-19, and not even a heavy afternoon downpour could dampen the spirits of Parade participants and guests.

This year, 650 participants took part in the Parade. They comprised officers from the various Police Land Divisions, specialist units and the Volunteer Special Constabulary, as well as Cadets from the National Police Cadet Corps.

The Guest-of-Honour at the Parade was Mr Lawrence Wong, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Minister for Finance. Noting the contributions of the SPF in keeping Singapore safe and secure, he thanked officers for their service. “The work of a police officer is not easy,” said DPM Wong. “Every day, they overcome numerous challenges in order to prevent, deter and detect crime. I thank all police officers for their unwavering courage, dedication and professionalism.”

Recognising the Contributions of Our Officers
At the Parade, DPM Wong also presented awards for the Best Land Division, the Best National Service (NS) Operationally Ready Unit, Best Full-time Police National Service officers and Best Police National Servicemen of the Year.

Clementi Police Division received the Best Land Division Award for the second year running. “I’m proud of the Division in maintaining its high standard of operational excellence and professionalism,” said Commander of Clementi Police Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Serene Chiu. “This achievement is also attributable to the strong partnerships we have forged with our community stakeholders, who actively contribute to creating safer communities.”

This year’s Best NS Operationally Ready Unit Award was shared by Airport Police Division and Jurong Police Division. “This would not be possible without the collective effort of committed servicemen, and dedicated NS leaders,” said NS Commander of Airport Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) (NS) Mulyadi Bin Ahmad.

This view was echoed by NS Commander of Jurong Police Division, DAC (NS) Darric Teo: “This Award is a testament to the effective initiatives by the Police National Service Department in engineering an ecosystem where Police National Service can excel and thrive.”

Another highlight of the Parade was the march-past segment and drive-past display, which featured the TSV among other Police vehicles.

Celebrating the SPF Spirit
Following a march-past by Parade participants, officers took to their vehicles for a drive-past display of the SPF’s operational capabilities. Among the 47 Police vehicles at this year’s Parade was the Special Operations Command’s Tactical Strike Vehicle, which was first unveiled at the Police Workplan Seminar and Exhibition in May 2023

As the sun set, the Parade concluded with a heartfelt performance by the SPF Combined Band (comprising the SPF Band, the SPF Women Police Pipes and Drums and the Gurkha Contingent Pipes and Drums). Dressed in their distinctive uniforms, they performed an original composition commemorating the journey that Police officers embark on the moment they don the blue uniform – a fitting close to Police Day 2023.
