The Police have arrested a 34-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft.

On 17 June 2021 at 10pm, the Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking at a residential unit located along Hillview Avenue. A mobile phone was purportedly taken by the man from a table within the unit through an open window.

Through follow-up investigations, officers from Clementi and Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 28 July 2021.

The man will be charged in court on 30 July 2021 with housebreaking and theft under Section 451 of the Penal Code. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.

The Police would like to advise members of the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Secure all doors, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and closed-shackle padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;

  • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in your premises; and

  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
