Between 24 to 28 July 2021, the Police received several reports where coin dispenser machines located within laundromats across Singapore were allegedly tampered with and cash was stolen from the machines.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division and Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 28 July 2021. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in other similar cases of theft.

The man will be charged in court on 30 July 2021 with theft in dwelling, under Section 380 of the Penal Code. The offence of theft in dwelling carries an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years and a fine.
