On 17 October 2026 at about 9.15pm, the Police were alerted to a case of theft at a hotel located along Beach Road, after an unknown man took away a money box containing “ang pows”, red packets containing cash, estimated to be around $2,000 at a wedding reception.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 18 October 2026.

The man will be charged in court on 20 October 2026 with the offence of theft in dwelling under Section 380 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years, and a fine.
