
On 11 September 2025, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) conducted an enforcement operation in Rochor and Little India to deter secret society activities at public entertainment outlets. Led by the Central Police Division and supported by the Secret Societies Branch of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the operation resulted in the arrest of seven people aged 16 to 44 for various offences. Two persons were referred to the Health Sciences Authority for e-vaporisers related offences.
Police Life joined the officers as they moved swiftly between locations to conduct proactive checks at public entertainment outlets. These operations follow a fight arising from a dispute outside a pub in early September 2025.

First Hit: Rochor
At around midnight, the Police conducted proactive enforcement checks on public entertainment outlets in the vicinity of Rochor. Regular activities at the outlets were suspended as they conducted checks, verified patron identities and engaged staff of these establishments to gather information.

Following their checks, the officers arrested two men, aged 24 and 44, for being suspected members of unlawful societies, under Section 14(3) of the Societies Act 1966.
Second Hit: Little India
The officers subsequently proceeded swiftly to a second location, which was at the vicinity of Little India. While en route, they encountered a 38-year-old man vaping at an eatery along on Dunlop Street. The Police shortly seized all e-vaporisers and related components under the Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) Act 1993, and the case was referred to the Health Sciences Authority.

The operation continued with proactive checks at another public entertainment outlet.
That same night, four more arrests were made. Two subjects aged 28 and 31 were suspected members of unlawful societies. A 16-year-old girl was arrested for allegedly using a forged electronic record and for drunkenness in a public place. Finally, a 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty and using abusive words towards him.

Safer Streets for All
The Police will continue to monitor the situation and step up enforcement operations to deter gang activities that threaten public safety.
“We will continue to carry out enforcement operations at public entertainment outlets, nightlife establishments and popular congregation hotspots to deter gang activities that threaten public safety,” said Commander of the Central Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Wong Keng Hoe. “We will not hesitate to take action against errant outlets and against those who choose to associate with secret societies.”
