“I hope to contribute to upholding justice and ensuring fairness for everyone.” Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Teo shared, as she reflects on her career with the Singapore Police Force (SPF) over the years.
Growing up, AC Teo found herself drawn to Crimewatch and police dramas, and her passion for law enforcement grew during her time in the National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) in secondary school and university. Beyond that initial fascination, her desire to serve the community pushed her to officially join the SPF after graduating from her studies.
Currently, AC Teo is the Deputy Director of the SPF’s Online Criminal Harms Act (OCHA) Office set up in February 2024 to tackle online criminal harms through new legislation. The OCHA Office works closely with online service providers and various government agencies to safeguard users from online crimes.

In her career with the SPF, AC Teo assisted in post-disaster efforts after the 2004 tsunami, taking the role of Family Liaison Officer to next-of-kins of our missing Singaporeans and led a team to Phuket in 2005 for the disaster victim identification work, reviewed operations-related policies after the 2013 Little India Riot, worked on frontline resource allocation during the 2015 SEA Games and oversaw Home Team operations management at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) during the 2018 Trump-Kim Summit.
As the first female full-time Aide-De-Camp (ADC) from the SPF, she accompanied the President to state functions, ceremonies or events, locally or overseas. Some ceremonial roles she served included the National Day Parade as well as the Swearing-in Ceremony for Cabinet. AC Teo was also tasked as the Family Liaison Officer during the lying-in-state for the late President S R Nathan in 2016, as she served as his full-time ADC from 2010 to 2012. Her other career highlights include a secondment to the MHA as Deputy Director and returning to frontline duties as Deputy Commander of Tanglin Police Division, which further demonstrated her passion to working alongside officers on the ground.

As a member of the Police Women’s Committee, AC Teo credits the progress of women in policing to generations of determined policewomen who challenged traditional roles with courage and perseverance. With the committee, she has organised career support and networking opportunities through town halls and is an advocate for the strengthening of internal communications and engagement platforms for the community of female officers.
Additionally, she contributes to discussions on enhancing female officers’ participation in policing and advocating for more inclusive and female-friendly equipping and improving support for working mums.

AC Teo is also a strong advocate for fitness in the SPF, where she leads the Police Sports Association Netball team to train and strive for greater heights. Under her passionate guidance, the team emerged as Champion at the recent Public Service Netball Tournament!
Her key advice to all officers? “Approach every new role with an open mind when opportunity arises, stay positive and always be ready to learn – you never know what you might discover about yourself."
