Man Arrested For Snatch Theft

The Police have arrested a 34-year-old man for his suspected involvement in two cases of snatch theft.

In the first case, on 18 June 2022 at about 8.40pm, the Police received a report from a female victim who informed that an unknown man had snatched her handbag in the vicinity of Teck Whye Avenue.

In the second case, on 1 July 2022 at about 12.04am, the Police received a report from a man who informed that an unknown man snatched his brother’s handphone in the vicinity of Teck Whye Avenue.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police and CCTV cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division, Police Operations Command Centre, Police Transport Security Command (TransCom) and Criminal Investigation Department established the identity of the man and arrested him on 1 July 2022.

The man will be charged in court on 2 July 2022 with snatch theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment of not less than one year and not more than seven years, and caning.
