Man To Be Charged For Vandalism

The Police will be charging a 28-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of vandalism incidents against police vehicles and making numerous prank calls to the Police Hotline.

Between 3 February 2026 and 22 March 2026, the Police received at least 18 prank calls reporting criminal activities which turned out to be false. When police officers responded to these incidents on 15, 21 and 22 March 2026, eggs were thrown at the police cars after the responding officers alighted to check for criminal activities.

Through follow-up investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division identified and arrested the 28-year-old man on 23 March 2026. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly obtained a mobile line by fraudulently using an identity card that was reported lost, and used the line to make these false calls to the Police Hotline. When responding officers attended to the reported locations, the man would vandalise the police vehicles by throwing eggs at the vehicles.

The 28-year-old man will be charged in court on 25 March 2026 with the offence of vandalism under Section 3 of the Vandalism Act 1966. The offence carries a fine of up to $2,000, or imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years, and shall also be liable to caning between three to eight strokes.

The Police have zero tolerance towards such acts that show blatant disregard for the law. Offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
