The Police have arrested five men, aged between 19 and 24, for their suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle.
On 13 June 2026 at about 11.20am, the Police were alerted to a case of theft of motorcycle, where a motorcycle parked at a building along Woodlands Close was reported missing.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identities of the five men and arrested them within 13 hours of the report. Preliminary investigations revealed that on 10 June 2026 at about 2.30am, the five men had spotted the unattended motorcycle. After a while, they managed to push start the motorcycle and one of them rode it away for a joyride. The stolen motorcycle was subsequently recovered.
The five men will be charged in court on 15 June 2026 with the offence of theft of motor vehicle with common intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine.
Police investigations are ongoing against the 24-year-old man for an additional offence of riding the motorcycle without a valid driving licence.
The Police would like to advise all motor vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
- Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
- Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard;
- Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;
- Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended; and
- Do not leave spare keys or transponders inside any storage compartments of the motorcycle.
