Man Arrested For Snatch Theft

The Police have arrested a 30-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of snatch theft.

On 25 October 2023 at about 10.35pm, the Police were alerted to a case of snatch theft along Hougang Avenue 3, where a 57-year-old woman’s handphone was allegedly snatched away by an unknown man.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division and the Police Operations Command Centre established the identity of the man. The 30-year-old man was subsequently arrested on 26 October 2023 along Bukit Batok Street 31.

The man will be charged in court on 28 October 2023 with the offence of Criminal Force in Committing Theft of Property Carried by a Person under Section 356 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than one year and not more than seven years, and caning.

The Police will not tolerate such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.
