Woman To Be Charged For Criminal Breach Of Trust

The Police will be charging a 44-year-old woman on 19 December 2025 for her suspected involvement in a case of criminal breach of trust.

On 4 July 2025, the Police received a report alleging that the woman had collected funds from participants for overseas canoe training camps without proper authorisation. Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman had purportedly misappropriated the funds for personal use rather than for their intended purpose.

The offence of criminal breach of trust under Section 406 of the Penal Code 1871 carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years, a fine, or both. 

Members of the public are advised to exercise caution and vigilance when entrusting their money or property to others. To protect yourself:

  • Verify the credentials and legitimacy of individuals or organisations before engaging in financial transactions
  • Be wary of offers that seem too good to be true  
  • Keep proper records of all transactions and agreements 
  • Report any suspicious activities to the Police immediately

The Police take a serious view of any person who engages in fraudulent or dishonest conduct. Offenders will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law.
